A Visit from Our Bishop
On March 4th, Bishop Ronald Hicks of the Diocese of Joliet came and visited Chesterton Academy of the Holy Family. This was the first time a Bishop has visited our school, and he celebrated Mass with our Chaplain Father Ryan Adorjan. Bishop Hicks gave a beautiful homily on how the first step of charity is to see the person and their need, and by seeing the person we are moved to compassion. After Mass, the Bishop met with the board members and took a tour of the school with a couple of students. During the tour he blessed the Our Lady of Fatima Chapel, where we are so blessed to have the Most Holy Eucharist reside. Everyone who encountered Bishop Hicks was impressed by the incredible humility and kindness he showed to every person that he met. After the tour he mentioned how he was moved by the students’ reverence towards the Eucharist, and what a joy it was to see high schoolers who understood the wonder of the Mass.
We are so very grateful for his visit, and we will continue to pray that he will be blessed in all that he does to serve the Lord and others.
