Mass at Chesterton Academy

Mass is the heart of our students’ daily life at Chesterton Academy. Each school day, the entire student body comes together for the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. Mass is celebrated at 8:00 a.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays, and at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesdays and Thursdays. We are deeply grateful to our School Chaplain, Fr. Andrew Buchanan, and the many priests who generously share their time, allowing us to offer daily Mass on campus.

As we celebrate our tenth year, we want to mention that we have never missed a single day of Mass at Chesterton Academy of The Holy Family. Daily Mass remains a cornerstone of our school community, bringing our students, faculty, staff and parents together in prayer and thanksgiving every day.

You can help us provide for the spiritual formation of our students.

With your support, Chesterton Academy of The Holy Family can continue to nurture the spiritual formation of our students through daily Mass, theological talks, seasonal retreats, and more. Your generosity helps ensure we can offer daily Mass on campus, secure essential liturgical supplies, vestments, and provide stipends for the priests who serve our community.

If you would like a Mass to be offered for a special intention, please feel free to request one using the form below or in person at the school office.

Canon Law also states, “The Christian faithful who give an offering to apply the Mass for their intention contribute to the good of the Church and by that offering share its concern to support its ministers and works” (945 §2). This refers to a longstanding practice in the Church of offering a specified amount of money to the Church for a particular intention offered by the priest. This is not the act of selling something sacred for money (simony), but it is for the purpose of supplying items for Mass and for the support of the priest.

• An offering of $15 is suggested for each Mass intention, symbolizing the sacrificial nature of your offering. You may pay online or at the school office.

• Please enter your intention in the comments box below. For example, Masses can be offered in thanksgiving, for the intentions of another person (such as on a birthday or anniversary), or as is most common, for the repose of the soul of someone who has died.

• If you have a specific date in mind, please indicate it, and we will do our best to accommodate your request based on availability. If no date is specified, we will assign the next available date. We aim to schedule your intention within four weeks.

• Optional: If you would like a Mass card, select that option. You can pick up the card in the office, or if you need it mailed, please provide the necessary details in the comments box.

A Mass may not be requested for:

  • An unknown or "private" intention

  • A prayer intention that contradicts Catholic moral doctrine

Thank you for entrusting us with your intentions.
